9:30am to 11:00am - Session 10: The Art of Misusing Archicad - Jared Banks

Archicad has a set of tools with obvious uses. The Wall Tool, the Beam Tool, the Column Tool, etc. are all designed with a specific goal in mind: to create a digital approximation of the real world element that tool's name describes. There are however an infinite number of tools that don't exist: there is no ceiling tool or siding tool or baseboard tool or trim tool or tree tool. Matching the right tool for the job is not always easy. Whether you refer to these solutions as workarounds, kludges, creative problem solving, or pure brilliance, there are good, great, and bad ways to misuse Archicad. In this presentation we'll talk about everything from using Polylines to sketch 3D massing and drawing details with Fills to stairs made out of single beams and the endless versatility of the Picture Object. By the end of the lecture attendees will not only have a vast array of techniques to use on their projects but also a philosophical understanding of how to find the best tool to solve future modeling problems.

11:00am to 11:30am - Break

11:30am to 1:00pm - Session 11: Cineware & Twinmotion - Carsten Emde

Investigate the specific aspects of the Cineware engine (previously known as Cinerender) which are needed to make an image look artistic & compelling. Explore settings such as sun, ambient occlusion, global illumination, shadows, general options, antialiasing and compare speed vs quality. Discover materials settings everyone should be aware of; diffuse, bump or normal, reflection, transparency. Learn about textures, size, quality, seamlessness, repetitiveness.

Explore why Twinmotion should be considered an excellent alternative to Cineware. Establish a solid connection between Archicad to Twinmotion via direct link or FBX. Examine Archicad settings needed to seamlessly work with Twinmotion, including modeling tips in Archicad, prior to bridging with Twinmotion. Be guided through a simple setup in Twinmotion, including location, lighting, materials, camera, and output.
